| Deadband
Deadband: Deadband is the difference between set and reset points.
fsf
There is always a difference between the set and reset points. If there were not, the switch would dither, not knowing to be on or off. Deadband requirements depend on the function; for alarm monitoring, deadband should be as small as possible, but greater than the “noise” on the pressure level to prevent spurious action. For control function, a wide deadband is required, eg on a compressor receiver.
For mechanical switches, deadband depends on the mechanical design of both the pressure sensor and the switch element. The pressure sensing mechanism must be of precision build to give a crisp action. Delta’s Classic range will produce the lowest deadbands. Generally speaking light duty microswitches will give the lowest deadband. Heavier duty switches, especially those environmentally or hermetically sealed, will have higher deadbands.
